Foundation Mission Statement
The Matthew Willman Visual Arts Foundation aims to further the development of individuals and communities through programmes and projects that inspire change and progression through the impact and promotion of the visual arts.
The value of human life is protected and nurtured through the building of grass root foundations where positive influence is inspired by those who have sought to better the lives of others.
Background
The building blocks of the Matthew Willman Visual Arts Foundation are founded upon the altruistic actions and struggles of those who unselfishly planted seeds of hope and determination in the lives of others. To choose hope and the belief that we all have it in us to make a difference is where true service and commitment as responsible citizens emerges. Leadership and the aspiration towards empowerment begin when individuals are given the opportunity to develop and find hope in who they are and what they believe.
Globally the medium of the visual arts and most notably photography is pioneering new paths in its goal of educating, serving and promoting the value of human life, addressing global issues and the expression of human creativity.
The Matthew Willman Visual Arts Foundation is is motivated by the meaningful impact the visual medium has and how we can use the creative arts to become the change we want to see in our own lives and the lives of others.
Key objectives of the Foundation are as follows
A: Development Projects:
Initiating programmes / projects that help support the development of the 'individual' and / or 'the community' through active partnership programmes. The projects incorporate the visual arts so as to bring about both direct and indirect education.
B: Public Platforms:
To support the creation and promotion of exhibitions. This includes visual arts that promote: human rights issues, people of indigenous heritages and any developmental issue arising through health care, social identity and advocacy programs.
C. Bursary Fund:
The establishment of a bursary fund to support individual growth and development within the Arts.
D. Leadership Program:
To use the resources and collective partnerships within the Matthew Willman Arts Foundation to promote leadership through the creative arts. The objective is to create a platform for open discussions where individuals can gain further development, insight and inspiration.
